The expansion comes as St. Jerome's takes over the former Notre Dame College as its women's residence. The old cafeteria there will be closed, and students living in both residences will eat in the main cafeteria. An overhead enclosed passageway is being added to link Notre Dame to the Finn residence.
Coming soon: phase II of the project, construction of "a one-storey, barrier-free building" with offices, reception area and storage for the director of residences.
A reception will follow this morning's ceremony.
The UWSA will be releasing a Staff Compensation Questionnaire this week to assist us in our compensation talks. It will contain information on costs of the Social Contract, i.e. faculty salary increases, buy-back of Rae Days, and the savings derived from the staff agreement. Tables will compare average salaries of staff and faculty at Waterloo to other universities in the province. He's urging staff members to read the information, fill out the questionnaire and send it back by April 17 so the association's compensation committee can get its ideas together for negotiation with UW management.
