UW grad student Todd Pettigrew directs while former UW student Vanessa Sage is providing the stage management. Producer is Jennifer Dinsmore. Admission is on a pay-as-you-can basis -- donations welcome. Playgoers are reminded to bring a blanket or lawn chair to the show. For information, call Todd: 886-6949.
UW Chemistry Professor John Moffat, who recently retired at 35 years at UW, has won this year's Canadian Catalysis Lectureship Award. Moffat will deliver special lectures across Canada and the U.S. Still active in research, he is the editor of Theoretical Aspects of Heterogeneous Catalysis and has published more than 240 publications in his field. The award, sponsored by the Canadian Catalysis Foundation, is awarded annually to a leading researcher in the field of catalysis in Canada. Moffat, recognized as an international authority on acidic catalysis, was selected by a committee of the catalysis division of the Chemical Institute of Canada. Catalysis is defined as the causing or accelerating of a chemical change by the addition of a substance that is not permanently affected by the reaction.
All undergraduate offices in the Faculty of Arts, including the Arts Undergraduate Office and Mature Student Services, will be closed August 12-23 inclusive.
