Tuesday's town hall meetings are in the Theatre of the Arts, at 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. They're mostly aimed at faculty and staff members, but students are welcome too if they're interested, says the president, James Downey.
All these events are driven by the Ontario government funding announcement that's expected tomorrow afternoon. Downey's "letter to the UW community", issued on October 19, gives background to the situation and is available on UWinfo under "Documents".
Meanwhile, the UW staff association will hold its annual general meeting next Tuesday at noon -- Downey's speaking at that one too -- and the faculty association holds its general meeting Wednesday, December 6, at 2 p.m.
And the senate finance committee will meet Wednesday, December 13, at 3 p.m. to talk about the government announcement and next year's budget for UW.
Monthly salaries that would normally be paid December 29 will be deposited Wednesday, December 20. The January 26 pay will be deposited Wednesday, January 24. It's back to normal after that: Friday, February 23.
Bi-weekly pay that would normally come December 21 will be one day early, on Wednesday, December 20. Other dates are unchanged.
Casual salaries will be paid Friday, December 15, as scheduled; the December 22 pay date will be Wednesday, December 20, instead.
An invitation has appeared for a special event at the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery on Thursday, December 7: "the official opening of Ceramics Israel and the launching of The Chair of Jewish Studies, University of Waterloo". Sponsors: Pamela and Donald Bierstock, the Gallery, and UW, "in cooperation with the Consulate General of Israel". The event runs from 7 to 10 p.m., with "opening remarks" at 8:30.
Added to UWinfo yesterday was the Memorandum of Agreement between UW and the faculty association that provides the framework for faculty salary settlements.
