Wednesday, January 26, 1994 WHERE'S THE GAZETTE? This morning's Gazette got to campus somewhat late -- we'd be inclined to blame the snowy roads down around Hamilton -- and should be out on campus shortly. BLOOD WANTED: The local Red Cross is short of blood this season (type O negative blood is particularly needed) and is hoping the shortage will be alleviated a little by a blood donor clinic this evening at Village 1. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m., a timing that makes it easy for people to follow the usual advice: eat before you give blood. Turnout at Village clinics hasn't been that great lately, so this one has been scaled down to just six beds. If you want to make sure there will be one free for you, or if you need more information of any kind about giving blood, you can call the Red Cross at 744-6198. VISITING CAMPUS: Two visitors of importance are at Waterloo today: Rev. Stan McKay, the moderator of the United Church of Canada, will conduct public worship at 4:30 in the chapel of Conrad Grebel College, and will lecture at 7 p.m. (also in the Grebel chapel) on "The History of Christian Missions to Native Canadians". Bart Collopy of Fordham University in New York is here under sponsorship of the Centre for Applied Health Research. He'll lecture at 5 p.m. (Matthews Hall room 1035) on "The Emerging Ethics Agenda in Long-Term Care of the Elderly". STUDENT KILLED: Christina Zaborski, a third-year biology student, died Sunday in a collision on a snowy highway north of Ottawa, where she was on a co-op work term. Visitation at the Schreiter-Sandrock Funeral Home on Benton Street, Kitchener, is from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. today, and the funeral will be tomorrow, Thursday, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Croatian Church. GAME TONIGHT: The basketball teams host their counterparts from Wilfrid Laurier University in the PAC main gym tonight: the Athenas at 6 p.m. and the Warriors at 8:00. At half-time in the Warrior contest, the athletics department will announce the winners of the Mike Moser Memorial Awards, which are presented annually for a combination of academic achievement and non-academic (especially athletic) activity; they honour the memory of Mike Moser, star centre on the 1974-75 Warriors, who died suddenly of a viral illness.
