THE LIBRARIES will be open a little later at night from now through the
end of spring term exams (July 16 through August 12, to be exact). The
Dana Porter and Davis Centre libraries will both stay open one hour later
each night. But Saturday and Sunday opening time becomes half an hour
later than usual.

In other words: Dana Porter is open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to midnight,
Friday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday 11:30
a.m. to midnight. Davis Centre is open Monday to Thursday 8 a.m. to
1 a.m., Friday 8 a.m. to midnight, Saturday 11:30 a.m. to midnight,
Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.

On Monday, August 1, which is Civic Holiday, Dana Porter will be open
from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Davis Centre 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.

SPRING TERM STUDENTS: There are 4,572 full-time undergraduate students at
UW this term -- lower than the figure for 1993, 1992 or 1991. Last year the
full-time total in the spring term was 4,738, according to registrar's office
figures.

Spring term enrolment is about one-third of fall and winter enrolment. This
year there were 12,159 full-time undergrads in the winter, and 13,364 in
the fall term.  Engineering is about two-thirds of its fall and winter size;
math, about 60 per cent; but science and arts, only about one-quarter.
The figures don't include graduate students or part-time students.

FOR SALE: The Minota Hagey Residence is holding a collective garage sale
today, from 3 to 6 p.m., outside the main doors of the residence. (Surely
the showers will be past by three o'clock!) Promised are "great deals on
books, kitchen ware, etc."

ON INVESTMENTS: The student-led Investment and Technology Forum, described
in an article that appeared in last week's Gazette, is meeting tonight
from 7 to 9 p.m. (Carl Pollock Hall room 4335). The speaker: Harry G.
Mortimore, of the Ontario Lead Investment Fund, on "the need for educated
risk capital in the knowledge-intensive industries". Reservations can
go to Doug Bierer at 746-7514.
