Daily Bulletin, Tuesday, March 29

FAT FLAKES are falling again -- a last (let's hope) outing for the
grounds crew's snow-shovels, and a reminder that April Fools' Day still
stands between us and Easter. (And yes, I realize that not everyone on
this campus celebrates Easter. Greetings, for example, to those for
whom this is the joyful Passover week.)

BANQUET TONIGHT: The Federation of Students is holding its student leadership
awards banquet at Federation Hall starting at 6 p.m. tonight. Besides honouring
eight student leaders, the Feds will recognize distinguished teachers and
hand out the landlord of the year award.

CALL FOR HELP: "PALS", the Peer Assistance Links Service operated by the
Federation, is extending a hand to co-op students who may need a friendly
Waterloo-type voice to talk to. With financial help from UW and Bell Canada,
PALS has set up a toll-free number: (800) 704-7257, or 704-PALS. The local
number for the service, staffed by student volunteers, is 888-4860.

LATE IN THE LIBRARY: For the convenience of students who've realized that
exams are around the corner, UW's libraries are open for extended hours
now through April 20. Here's the schedule:

Dana Porter Library, 8 a.m. to 12 midnight Monday to Thursday; 8 a.m. to
11 p.m. Friday; 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday; 11:30 a.m. to midnight
Sunday.

Davis Centre Library, 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. Monday to Thursday; 8 a.m. to 12
midnight Friday; 11:30 a.m. to 12 midnight Saturday; 11:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
Sunday.

Library services -- the information desks and circulation service -- aren't
available all those hours, of course, but self-charge can be used whenever
the library is open.
