DINOSAUR DAY: At 11 this morning, youngsters from Alpine Public School
will be "digging" for dinosaur postage stamps in UW's earth sciences and
biology museum, as Canada Post celebrates the launch of its four 43-cent
stamps featuring dinosaurs. All afternoon in the museum there will be
dinosaur videos and dinosaur cookies; everyone's welcome, and a First Day
Cover with the four new stamps will be on sale ($2.50). The museum is on
the third floor of Biology 1.

BUSY WEEKEND: Correspondence students ("distance students" in the
currently preferred term) are visiting UW today and tomorrow for the
annual open house, which this year celebrates the 25th anniversary of
Waterloo's correspondence program. It began with a couple of physics
courses for schoolteachers, delivered on reel-to-reel audiotape, and has
grown to the point that in a dozen fields of study, one can do a complete
Waterloo degree by correspondence. The students who are visiting today
will get a chance to meet their instructors face to face, as well as
socializing with one another and attending workshops.

Among other weekend activities is a Walk for AIDS on Sunday. It starts
in Kitchener's Victoria Park at 11 a.m., and the UW Federation of Students
is among groups that are encouraging sponsorships for the 10-kilometre
fund-raising event. Sponsorship forms are available from the Fed office
in the Campus Centre.

All weekend, pairs of students will circle the UW ring road in the annual
Charity Run sponsored by St. Jerome's College (proceeds this year go to
The Working Centre). And Sunday is the date for the Downey Tennisfest,
keeping 72 staff and faculty busy on the courts at the Waterloo Tennis
Club.
